I did find out that the mintage numbers on this year were low compaired to others. The one I want to buy is in a PCGS holder that says 2006-W (1/2 oz) Gold Eagles - MS-69 PCGS. Is this a good buy? __________________ This is gold, Mr. Bond. All my life I've admired its color, its brilliance, its divine heaviness. I'd think about it before cracking it out. Look on eBay at what half ounces are selling for raw. Then look at prices for PCGS graded ones. First it certifies the coin is not fake. As mentioned previously just watch a few eBay auctions for similar coins. Some time ago a Texas firm; Universal Coin & Bullion published a list of the more desired dates. The best lower mintage $25 Gold Eagles are sought for inclusion in Individual Retirement Accounts. Many have already been locked up in IRA plans. This places a premium on the better dates due to lower survival rates and perceived unavailability.
