the biggest rarity since the 1982 plain dime!!!!

British 20p sans date

In circulation in Britain, only about 15K in existence.

Now THAT I would consider an error. Not the usual garbage we're seeing touted these days in U.S. coinage.

Still, it is a great way to generate money. Maybe the Royal Mint produced a million of them and they are not so rare. ha,ha
Amen to that.

I found one that I thought would stay cheap, since the seller didn't post pics and I even emailed it to someone I thought might want one cheap (I think the seller is on the up-n-up) but I was wrong:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=180375752165

I've seen what the other ones sell for and I figured this would be less than half of what the others brought, but whoa! Now I'm confused!

Or maybe 200,000. (Also see this thread http://www.cointalk.com/forum/t59150/ about the same topic.) Neat error? Yes. Biggest rarity? I doubt it.

Can you say 50K+ Washington dollars with no edge lettering? (Which means no date or mintmark)

There is an estimate of 50,000 to 200,000 of them. It's hardly a rarity, but it is fun for the locals to find them in their change. By now, most of them will be out of circulation, I expect.
