I think to truly qualify as a hated coin you would have to actually deface any examples you found, but the one I run into and think is a real dog are the new Jefferson nickles, the 2005 portrait was actually pretty well done, the new ones could be improved by contracting with any Jr. High school art department to do a redesign. I do not hate them enough to scrawl an x across the ones I pick up, it makes one wonder is the designer some muckity mucks close relative?

presidential dollars, they will never seem to end, it will be a chore to see them all through, too much commitment to a program of coinage and not enough symbolism, expression and statement in our coinage.

My body did not come equipted with a hate bone, but there are several I dislike.

Ikes, SBA's, Prez dollars, Kennedys, Franklins, Roosys, Washingtons. Mainly boring designs I guess. Some I do not even dislike, they just do not interest me.

I would have added Jeffersons to that list but since buying a cpl gem sets, I have really changed my mind. They CAN be beautiful with some color and steps.

Most of my " collection " these days have been darkside coins due to the artwork and value they represent.

I used to dislike Sacajawea dollars... but then I looked at the bag of them I had and they had started to tone - so I have a new appreciation for them now.

There are two coins that I like, but HATE under certain circumstances.
Saint-Guadens 20$ gold and Morgan Dollar.

Nice coins to be sure.

but during large Coin Shows... no way.

Now some examples are nice, (Lehigh's For Instance) but I wouldn't ever start a set or anything, the only one I will ever buy will be for my type set. They are still ugly.

I also hate the Presidential Dollars, The Territory Quarters, The Kennedy Half, The Susan B Anthony Dollar, and in the future, I will hate the park state quarters as well.
Travis,

One day you will come out of the closet and admit your undying love for the Jefferson Nickel. In fact, I might have to send you one for XMAS.

My most hated series is anything Seated Liberty. I abhor that design.

I think people have posted interesting opinion most I agree with. I think the IKE's and SBA's are the ugliest. The clad devaluation of money bothers me the most. Give me a pre64 silver coin worn or not verses a modern debased coin (except the nickel has never been debased yet) and I will pick a 90% silver coin all day. I like Clembos point. Some coins were not made intelligently like the Buffalos and SLQ's re: high relief dates.

So very odd Paul.

I love anything from the art deco years, especially the Standing Libs...., Mercs, Walkers
It was just recently I fell in love with those Jeffs. A few hours with a loupe and a set of BU Jeffys has really changed my mind. I am even considering trying to go " full step" with it.

Color Jeffs turn me on now and for years I found them boring

Coins are a sickness, lol

As I understand it, darkside usually means European coins, but I think all foreign coins may fall into this subgroup.

I include Canadian when I mention darkside just because I don;t know better.

Hate none, least liked would be the SBAs. Disappointed in the new Lincoln reverse. Sad by the inability to remove dead presidents from coins.
