Smile New from Georgia

Greetings everyone,

My name is John and it is great to be here I've been a closet collector for some time now but it had always been a background hobby. My parents got me interested in it at a young age and got some pretty cool coins trading with kids at school. Other hobbies took up most of my time and money but i always look through my change, saving wheat pennies and can always hear the crisp cling of a silver quarter or dime when it's dropped into my change

Unfortunately like many folks I have recently lost my job which sucks, but has also left me with some free time and a few cool finds at local banks has sparked my interest again! So much so in fact that I have gotten my parents to invest some money with me and would love to turn it into a hobby/business but I have a long way to go before that happens.

I can be somewhat long winded so I wanted to introduce myself and thank everyone for all of the useful info I have already found. I've been reading this forum for a few weeks now but officially have a question now and didn't know if I should post it here or somewhere else.

This is somewhat of a 2 part question so bear with me. I will try and get pictures in a bit so you can see what I am working with. One of my recent purchases was a 2009 Ultra High Relief Gold Double Eagle from the Mint as I feel it is a good investment coin. The coin is BEAUTIFUL although on the reverse side of the coin I noticed what appears to be a rough area on the top left edge. It pretty much runs along the edge all the way above the word "United".
I would like to know if this would affect the overall grade of the coin?
I would also like the community's opinion on the grade of the coin and will explain a bit more once I get some pictures up!

SORRY FOR THE LONG POST!
J

Welcome to CoinTalk! I am also from Georgia! I live at the base of the Central Georgia Mountain Range in Thomaston. Your question is best posted in either the Error/Variety section or the U.S. coins section.

Haha thanks yall. I'll post it over in the US coins Forum as I'm sure it will get more looks there. I have found that trying to photograph this coin without a proper camera is just about impossible, but i'll see what I can come up with.

Thanks!!
J

HAHA! Oh but how wrong you are! I was born in Chicago and although moved here at a young age, I grew up about 20 minutes from the city, far from what I would consider the "sticks" where the true southerners live

Yall is the only thing I have really picked up because it is a useful little word for places like internet forums and beats typing out you all

I see you're from Marietta! I'm moving to Dacula or somewhere in Gwinnett county once my house sells (which it probably won't in this market )
