Coin Collection from India

Hi all,

I have never collected coins before but I am starting out now in my early 30s (I wonder if that's a bit late to start). The reason why I wanted to start a collection was that last week I had a lot of loose change in my pocket and looking at the mint years I noticed that a lot of coins seem to be going out of circulation. Its hard to find coins minted in the 1980s.

I also thought about what I wanted to collect. I think I am going to stick to the Indian collection because that in itself can be large.

I want to start out with
1. Contemporary Indian Coins (1957 - Present)
2. Republic of India - Old System 1947 - 1957

and eventually also collect coins under British India (1830s until 1947)

If there are any fellow collectors out there who can help me out in my quest, please feel free to drop in a line

Many thanks
lonsharim

Thank you all for your encouragement.

Since my collection is starting out as contemporary, I am looking at the coins in circulation. What is the next best source for coin collection.

I suppose it would be to join a coin club or meet a reputed coin dealer or perhaps show lots of patience and restraint LOL.
