IMO it would be a bad idea to swap a product that is not coin related for a coin related item. It just seems like there would be too many flaws there, and it would wear on everyone's nerves. Say that the ipod keeps freezing, or the GPS system isn't up to par, or it isn't what the buyer wanted/expected, there will be problems. We already have that problem with coins, and we don't need to spread that to other things. IMO if we did do something like this, electronics should be a no-no, because I see people fighting, the forum splitting and people starting there own forums, the internet is overloaded with coin message boards, and before you know it, World War III. Okay, maybe it won't get that extreme, but in all seriousnous (sp?), I don't think it would work out well.

One of the problems with stuff like electronics is some guy sees we allow that on the forum so he makes the requisit number of posts, puts up a laptop/camera/ for trade or sale, the guy who buy's/Trades then finds out it is a dud/stolen/non existant who do they complain to?
I went through this some time ago when I was modding on a Sports card forum, it caused no end of problems for the owner.

I would have to offer opposition to this suggestion. This is Coin Talk. A numismatic venue for learning as well as teaching. Allowances for other collectibles to either be discussed, bought or bartered, would be in direct conflict with this primary goal. If I want to learn more or wish to buy, sell or
trade Blue Glass, collectible spoons or grandmas' tiffany lamp etc there are sites dedicated for that purpose. Lets not attempt to fix something that is not broken.

I am sure Peter would not mind someone posting a Large Cent and you swapping a laptop for it. But that can be handled thru PM's. | ***** Agreed. The reason I come here and to the open forum is coins.
Not interested in electronics, beanie babies or pet rocks. The forum is slow and clogged up enough already. I attend flea markets and auctions where this stuff is peddled ad nauseum. We do not need it here.

So, otay!
As to my original question, I will just continue to sell on Ebay and locally and leave it at that. I was just trying to help others here save a nice bit of money and thought it might be possible but I can see it isn't wise to do it here.

Ps: My new laptop went down and I won't have it fixed until next week and I can't tolerate my old laptop's slowness so I won't be around until after I get my new one back up and running. I thought I'd let ya'll know why I disappeared before I disappear.

As long as both parties agree I don't have an issue with that. The problem I have is the venue. This is coin forum and thus I feel that it would be inappropriate to be trading other items than coins and currency.
