No. There are exactly 15 examples of this coin known to exist and all of them are accounted for. If it was a 1913 nickel, I would tell you the same thing.
No one on this forum can authenticate this coin from pictures. If you really think it is genuine, then send it to PCGS, NCG or ANACS. They can authenticate it and if they do, we'll read about you in Coin World, Numismatic News, and probably every newspaper in the country. this coin is THAT rare!

Thanks for the links. I do see your point about the 4. I am wondering if that may be one of the differences between a class 1 coin and a class 3 coin. That link had a class 1 coin. Maybe this one is a class 3?? I am not saying this coin is real for sure. That's why I am here. I am trying to figure out a little bit about it is all. I am hoping that somebody out there can tell the difference.

I can't tell from the pictures as I am not an expert in this series. I will tell you this, the fakes for these outnumber real ones by an uncanny magnitude. The chance of yours being real practically non-existent. There have been other stories like yours on the forums where people get there hopes up, and are then let down. Some of the fakes out there are extremely deceiving. I'd get it looked at, but seriously, DO NOT get your hopes up.
But WELCOME TO THE FORUMS!! |

You are right. I am not trying to get my hopes up really. I know it could be fake. But, my Great Grandfather who owned this coin was a coin collector. I find it hard to believe that it could be a fake. Time will tell I guess. |

Sorry, but it looks fake. I'm no expert, but from experience it just has that "look".

My first impression was the coin was off center
The star is awfully close to lady liberty's bust...
The coin, doesn't look real in the photos, we see fakes almost on a daily basis, I believe this too is a fake, it doesn't have the look of a real coin.
If it is a fake, it isn't the best fake in the world...
