Some of you guys may remember Madonna's song "Vogue" where she launched a dance craze around her line "strike a pose":



Well, along the same vein, let's put together a thread that members can post close up photos of numismatic items that strike their fancy.

Here are some guidelines. 1. The photo should be a macro view or close up of a part of the total item whether it is a coin, paper bill, book, etc. 2. It must be an item they own 3. The poster should say something about why they took the particular shot and why it interested them.

OK, I'll go first. First I must put on my eyeglasses :



Now, for my first macro shot I chose a CC Morgan Dollar. It seems that with the Morgan type, everyone wants a CC version so since this series seems to be the most popular in the hobby, it is right to post a pic. My coin close up is the mint mark - "tilted CC" variety:



Now it is your turn! For an incentive, I will give away a modest prize (TBD) for what I determine to be the best picture and story behind their selected pic(s). Have fun!

Here is a close up picture of my 1880 S MS63 DPL morgan dollar
I used it as my online album cover on coinhood, so that is why it has the writing. I just wanted to capture the beauty of the woman, herself, even with the bag marks, and I think I did a good job of that. It showcases nice points, and details, along with camera angle, and flash, that I used for the picture


The next picture is a close up of the same morgan, but it is the reverse. I just wanted to capture the frostiness of the coin itself, along with the eagle and its right wing. I think that it makes the eagle look great, and absolutely stunning

Here's is a close up of one of those large banknotes in the early 20th century that seem to evoke the larger than life role that money played in those days:



I like the colors and the threads running through the paper and the numbers 4 through 0 (10)!

That is one VERY gorgeous coin(?)
I don't think I have anything to compare to that, nor could I image it nearly as well even if I did have something like that.

Now I always found the how detailed the buffalo coins were, was amazing
The bone structure on the back, and just how realistic it looks, just amazes me!
Here is the back portion of the buffalo, you can see bone, and part of the tail, just simply fascinates me, how we can have such detailed coins

This is a classic motto for our coins. I like this shot because it captures well the toning and strike of this part of the coin. The shot still is not perfect, but is pretty good for someone with my limited skills!
