1 Gulden Emden 16??

I stumbled upon this Gulden from the city of Emden thursday. I donīt know anything about the history of this coin, but the combination of design, size (41 mm), age (minted 1637-57) and price ($63) forced me to by it.

What I wonder is: do anyone know if it is possible, in any way, to date this coin more precisely?

Very nice piece. 1637-57 is when Ferdinand (see FERD III on the coin) was emperor of the HRE, so that time frame makes sense. Don't know much about coins from those days, but on the 1 gulden (28 stüber) coins from Emden that I have come across you would usually see "EMB" for the city name, and the CoA is a different one. Here are two from the times of Ferdinand II (the predecessor of F. III):

Problem is, I don't have any better suggestion as to where the coin is from ...

Me again - the CoA looks like the one of Oldenburg:

See here: http://www.ngw.nl/int/dld/kreis/oldenbur.htm
(...) the old arms of the Free State of Oldenburg (image below), showing the bars of the oldest arms of Oldenburg and the cross of the former Delmenhorst county (...)

Thank you

I guess I will have to live without knowing the exact year.
