How to photograph coins?

This might be common knowledge, but I was wondering if someone could provide me tips on how to photograph coins! I have tried a couple of times but can't get the intricate details on the camera....also had issues with the glare.

Any tips appreciated.

green18 hit the nail on the head so to speak! there have been alot of topics going into great detail on how to achive good images. The one thing i can say is that while the advice given in those posts worked for those members, more then likey it wont work for you exactly. The best thing to do is to read those posts, get an idea of what might help... and then practice!

The setup i use, is pretty complex and probably wont help you. but the idea i use for lots of lights and light diffusion might give you an idea that will work for you. so reading the posts wont be a waste of time, i merely mean that if you try to do exactly as they do, and it doesnt work, dont get frustrated

as always, post pics of your tests to the forum... someone might be able to give hints that will get you to the point you are looking for!

Some times the right equipment can make a big difference in the way a coin photo comes out. Here's a site that has some coin photography tips and coin photography items that may be useful. http://www.tabletopstudio.com/docume...hotography.htm
