grade a buffalo nickel?

hi All,
check this pic out and offer an opinion if you would please. Looking at it with my naked eye, I figured it was a pretty nice high grade coin (just comparing with MS63-65 pictures of nickels, I figured it was ballpark). Under a glass though it has a few blemishes here and there and it doesn't look so great (obv looks fine). I blew up this picture shown here. What do you experts think of this nickel?
thx
andy

Either AU-55 or MS-62. Can we see the obverse?

Going by just the reverse I see with that lighting I would say MS-63/4. What some call wear on these on the buffalo itself is not wear, a weak strike. Whatever it is, beautiful coin.

I have had several UNC weak strikes but it looks like wear on the chin area.

I guess I don't see any real wear, so I would grade it at an MS-62. The fields look fine but their are too many scratches on the faces.

You are probably right, I only saw the reverse. The grade I gave it is just one of many reasons why no TPG company has asked for me to be an employee. One thing is for sure, it is a beautiful coin. After seeing the obverse I will say MS-62.

I go 63 but I usually grade a bit high. I think it is weakly struck.

I agree that the coin is a lower MS grade...but I see a pretty good rim hit at about 3 o'clock that might make this a body bag coin.

nice luster, good horn, not too too many marks, obverse could be a bit better, I will call it MS-63 run of the mill.

I (think I) see high point wear and some slight luster imparement. Therefore it looks like an AU 58 to me.

However, I reserve the right to change my mind.

I see it as MS62/63 unless the black spots on the bison's upper shoulder & rib areas happen to be corrosion. The other dark places (ear, top of hindquarters, top of back below EPU) are hopefully just toning.
