    Smile 2009 Abraham Lincoln Dollar

I personally think it is ugly, and it would be more popular if they did a two year minting of the 2008 commemoartives! lol
I would NEVER buy one, but what do you think of them, and also the prices they sell for @ MS70!

I'll have to disagree with you on this. I like the 2009 Lincoln Commemorative so I ordered one each, a proof and an Unc.. Although, I wouldn't pay MS70 money for any slabbed modern coin either. To me, looking at any slabbed MS69 coin with the naked eye, I cannot tell a difference between a 69 or a 70. Maybe professional graders can but I can't, so its not worth the price difference to me.

I think the coins are an asset to the commemorative program in greneral and a fitting tribute to a very great president in particular. Say what you like about the design, I for one, like it.

I also like them. There may be a lot of writing on them, but it's not the quantity of words, it's the quality of them!

I think the obverse is one of the best the mint has done for a long time, the Ben Franklin "Forefather" obverse has an odd almost eerie appearance but this Lincoln coin appears very natural and lifelike. If you've ever been to the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC you really will appreciate this coin design. The coin bust is virtually identical to the Lincoln statues head.

I go to DC fairly regularly and enjoy immensely the Memorial Statues of Lincoln, Jefferson, Roosevelt, and others. The coins take me back there almost every time I look at them.

Have you seen one in hand? particularly a proof? I think they a very nice. And the pics I saw on the internet don't do the coins justice when you see one in person.

As one member posted somewhere on here, they liked the coin more each time they looked at it. I feel much the same way. To me, it is a great coin and I find the words on the reverse beautifully displayed and very appropriate for this coin. I can not say that about most word coins.
