Grade the walker

Hey guys. I bought this about a year ago as an AU-50 raw from a coin shop for my type set. Looking at it closer, I think it may go higher than that. I don't know much about this series. It is extremely lustrous throughout. Opinions?

Hard to say for sure, but I'm still going with AU.

I'd give it AU-58, though.

I'd also say AU-55 or 58. Definitely a nice buy.

The coin looks well struck.
- Flag lines across the left leg are VERY close to full.
- The left thumb is visible.
- Very close to full head.

Not obviously cleaned; could be original surfaces.
Can't see any obvious rubbing.
I'd say better than AU-50. How much better? I'll let the pros make that decision.

I would have to go with AU-58, it looks like it might be some slight wear on Liberty's head, but it's a beautiful coin.

I would say AU-55 to AU-58. Like Josh said, there is wear on the left arm. Also, some other high points have been slightly worn down such as the breast, legs, feathers, etc... Nice coin though

Can you guys help me to understand how grading services determine whether coins are circulated versus uncirculated? Whenever I see coins that are AU-50 to AU-58, I cannot really tell if they are circulated.

More importantly, if a coin is listed as uncirculated, I cannot really tell if it has never been circulated. I would love to learn how to tell the difference.

To be honest the lighting and the color of the image make it tough to tell much about breaks in luster. It has the look of AU-50.

Even in these pictures you can see the change in color on her left breast , at least that's what it looks like to me .

I see no luster breaks nor color changes other than a touch of rub on her breast and some lack of details. The reverse looks totally clean and fully lustrous. Personally, I was thinking AU-58.
