1938 Jefferson Nickel award winning design

I have in my collection 2 of these nickels that have documentation stating that these are .999 silver reproductions of the original winning award. There are or were suppose to be 1,938 made of these sets. One is a Proof and the other is a Matte finish sealed in capsules by SEGS.
These are set number # 907. Not sure how, why or when I got them. Anyone know more about them or what they are worth?

Yes...I've been hunting a set of these for sometime now, but they don't hardly ever come up on ebay.

I believe that I have some documents here in my files about them, but other than just the issue price, and where to order them, I doubt much more.
If I remember correctly the last set that I saw sold for around $75. I could be wrong, and maybe others can help out on the pricing.

These were originally offered by the Full Step Nickel Club at the following prices:

Uncirculated: $38
Proof: $42

I don't know what they go for today, but I would guess these same prices, or a bit more or less.

Paawpaaw...I know you're new here, but you can't offer these here. You should send a private message (PM) to Speedy.

No problem. When we are new here it sometimes takes time to get used to the rules.

I thought they where produced by CONECA? Been looking for them myself with no luck.
Used to see them all the time about 10 years ago for around $30 but haven't seen any come up for sale in a long time.

Nope--The FSNC were the ones that did it, and if I understand correctly, Ron Landis, master die engraver of the Gallery Mint Museum, was the one who did the dies.

Is this what you are talking about. What is the real name of them so I can ask around for them at F.U.N.

They are the award winning design by Felix Schlag, for the new nickel coin, that was later modified.

I have one, in proof as I remember.

As for slabbed sets?
Who knows.

Value: what ever you can agree on, but not that much.

I bought a matte finish one the other day but then I realized the seller also had a proof version with matching serial numbers. I couldn't let the matte finish coin's brother get away so I had a bidding war for the other one.
The serial # is 976 on both of them.
I'll post pics when they come in.
I got the matte finish one for $21.50 and the proof finish one for $24.50
