Ya thanks Bonedigger, I now have a few nice bust halves in my collection. I never thought that i would, but man they are nice.
I've learned to be carful in my purchases.

Every aspect of my collecting/buying/knowledge has changed/improved.
Many coins I would have bought two years ago I would not even look at twice to buy now.
Notes - holy cow - I did not know what a horseblancket/port hole/funnyback/woodchopper/battleship/brown-back, ect... were two years ago. Now I feel like I spend 90% of my time researching notes versus coins.
Made many great friends who I hope to meet!
Have made great dealer contacts who I trust to give me a straight answer.

Forums, and the free exchange of information from collector to collector, has been the single largest influence in my collecting, and I suspect had I not become active in them I wouldn't have gotten back into coins after a long lay-off. Forums "changed the game" for me, so to speak. Numismatics was always a relatively solitary hobby for me, but the forums have allowed me to freely exchange information with other like-minded (and unlike minded) people and has really greatly enhanced my numismatic education.

Cointalk is full of very knowledgeable people. Numismatics definately thrives here. I have learned so much in the few months I've been here. There are many great people here with resident experts on all types of coins. Cointalk is the best Numismatic website, period.

Well, I went from an extremely narrow focus, to a really too wide focus and am now going to be working on narrowing my focus again. 6mo ago I knew nothing. Now I know more, but still nothing. However, now I realize there is way more to learn than I ever imagined... And there are people to help me! Also, I used to have dreams of weird/beautiful paper money. Just recently, I have found out that some of those bills are actually obsolete currency. Must have seen them somewhere before, but not sure where. Could be I have some paper money colletor in my bloodines. Thanks to you all!

I know I just signed up the other day and all but I love to see what others in this field that know alot more then me think and so far everyone has been really helpful. I have alot to learn and I guess what I like best about this site or what it has done is open my eyes to counter fitters and other people trying to get the better of you.

I have to say CT has opened my eyes to toned coins. I never cared for them before but now I will always be on the look out for one that catches my eye.
It has also made me more picky as to what I want and am willing to purchase.

My Mood: | CT is GREAT!
All:
I am so glad that I found CT! It has been invaluable to me. Like many people coming iunto numistatics, I got my start with the 50 state quarter program.
CT is really giving me an education that is proving to be invalaulable. I do not respond to most threads because i believe that i am far to inexperiences to offer useful advice.
As to the people here on CT, They are the BEST!! I sometimes wixh that some of the more heated discussions would be moved to a different thread or taken to PMs!
I am looking to start collecting recent moderns, ike, SBA and SAC dollars and slowly get into the mercury and roselvelt dimes.

I love this site!
Plus it's been excellent at dusting off decades old knowledge that I had lurking in the deep and dark corners of what passes for my Brain. I suppose it's like riding a bicycle then.
There's a tremendous amount of knowledge on this board and I am grateful for it. Even if I am a hard-headed jerk |

CT is a nice place to rlx.. good pple and maybe i will meet some of u guys.. .
Best part is, most of the pple here are from different geographies
Btw,
started looking out for the mint marks in the common coins in circulation. So i can now examine a coin travelling in a bus or train. its fun and good way to unwind..
