Did they run out of proof planchets? Maybe it's possible they only ordered so many based on projections from previous sales.
The UNC is still available.

My Mood: | Disappointing arrival today
Today was the day that I was expecting the latest FS coin to come in. Knowing that I would need a signature, I couldn't wait to get home. Unfortunately, I didn't get out of work until 6 and sure enough there was the infamous door tag from UPS letting me know that my package had arrived, but they need a signature to release the coin. I decided to go shopping at Sears for some manly tools and when I returned home guess what was sitting on my door step........ you guessed it!!!! It was the FS coin. What was even funnier was the fact that the door tag was still hanging there. I guess the UPS drive saw that my wife was home and decided to leave it. I couldn't wait to open it up, but when I did, I immediately noticed this very distracting strike through on the coin. Probably some fiber from one of the mint worker's cloths, but very noticeable by the naked eye. So back it will go. To ensure that I don't get the same coin back, I am going to have to reorder the coin next week when I get paid and send back the other one after I receive the new one. Its going to be a long couple of weeks.

I think I might have to do a set.
I bought about a dozen early pices when gold was about 880 ,for near melt.
These as a total set might be worth something in the future. Sub sets of the unmarried Presidents , very active first ladies in politics, and ladies of natural beauty such as Julia Tyler. Some not attractive for any reason other than being first lady.

A bit of a spike on PMs today. If it hangs on that should be the push up some people have looked for. If not it will be profit taking so more can be turned . Interesting start and the mint jumped right in. Cheap today , or over priced ?

not sure you need the overkill of reordering a new coin??? I had a problem with one of my Dolley Madisons when they were first issued and I sent it in for a replacement and was definitely given a new coin. have you had a problem with getting back the same stuff before???

She said it reduces any confusion
that an exchange may cause. I have done it both ways and have not had a problem either way, but don't want to take a chance. I would have been able to place an order for a new one right now, but the wife "borrowed" some money so now I have to wait.

I used to feel guilty for having to return a coin because of a "slight" mark or defect, but once these coins started going up to the $600 range, all that guilt went out the window. If I am paying that kind of money, I want perfection. Now, I will return anything if it isn't perfect. I usually end up returning 1-2 coins a year for some kind of problem such as this.
