Consecutive $1 star notes

I got a total of four star notes today. These two consecutive $1 star notes are UNC and a semi-scarce run!! Not the rarest but my best find yet.

I have no idea. They can probably be found in circulation pretty easy because they are so new. I'd imagine, the right collector might pay $5 or $6 for the pair.

On this series all notes both regular and star start from X00000001X

I would keep them and they are more than likely worth 2-3 dollars each!
Perhaps Numbers will show up and look up the stars as they are not yet listed in S/L 8th Edition.

Thanks. All I know is that on mycurrencycollection.com they show that 640,000 stars were printed in that run.

Nice run and nice find! Someone collecting by blocks/districts would probably pay triple face for them. My latest guide doesn't even list a 2006 L* yet. Based on the serials it may be a low production run.

The 2006 $1 L..* run #1 is a fairly short run of 640,000 notes, serials 00000001 - 00640000. They'd be expected to sell for well above face value in CU condition.

There's also a run #2 for San Francisco already, a full run of 3,200,000 notes, serials 03200001 - 06400000. Those would be expected to trade much closer to face value, though they should still fetch *some* premium in CU.

Just the fact that the common run #2 exists will keep the prices for run #1 from getting *too* extreme, since some collectors only seek one star note per district. The *really* pricey stars are the ones where the short run(s) were the only run(s) printed for the district and series; the most recent examples are the 2003A $1 K..* (two runs of 640,000 each) and the 2003 $1 D..* (just one run of 320,000!). No districts of Series 2006 $1 stars are currently in this situation, but you never know what the next month's production report will reveal. Watch this space....
