My Mood:
Hello everyone

I finally got the incentive i needed to join a coin forum - As decimalisation appraoched back in 1968-9, I decided to start collecting all old English coins still in circulation. I checked every coin that went through my pockets, and also from my family (mom's purse was very productive)! Eventually got a decent collection to start, and then I have kept the decimal coins every year since then.

Nothing much happened until this year. One of my cousins died and his wife gave me 2 large whiskey bottles full of 'odds & sods' otherwise she was going to dispose of them. I sat down excitedly and started a painstaking process of checking every coin. There were many that I already had, but it has also significantly boosted my collection.

The oldest coin I think is Roman, but as yet I have not identified the ruler's head (the inscription is offset when made and therefore the name is not present). There are some George 3rd coins, Victoria, and many old foreign coins. The best one is probably a mint 1898 Victoria, 1 shilling piece. Probably never been used.

Looking forward to sharing & discussing!

Martin
