Some good places to consider looking for old coins are places such as old school grounds, play grounds, fair grounds, or old sites where these things have been known to have existed at one time. Around very old trees. Certainly you can find things on sites that have recently been excavated, but you should look in places where the ground has not been disturbed for over a hundred years or more.
