just started

hi all ive just started to collect coins,im finding metal detecting very exciting and hope to get a great collection together.i have found something on my first excursion and have no idea what it is,ive uploaded a photo(not great my cameras cack)it is round heavy and has rubbed writing around the bottom and some markins then IP and a sourt of smile threw the middle,anyone got any idea what it is???

Welcome. Coin collecting and metal detecting are two good hobbies that go together.

After looking at your photo I have narrowed down the possiblilties to:
  • The planet Venus
  • A UFO
  • The gunman on the grassy knoll
  • The latest sighting of Bigfoot
Seriously, you need to work on your focus. There is no way to identify a coin from a photo that is that much out of focus.

HOBO you forgot mention Loch Ness (old Nessie). Welcome to CT and with better pictures these guys on here can identify most anything. They are seldom baffled by any coin/token or medal presented on here.

thnx all sorry bout the photo camera just cant get decant shot up close,i think its a lead token of some sourt,does anyone know the best places in exeter to metal detect??
