I just wanted to take a moment and say hi; I have been viewing CoinTalk for about 6 months, but never got around to registering. Glad to finally be a part of the discussion. I am a relatively new coin collecter (around 2 years or so), but had always had the collecting bug. It just took awhile to find the right medium so to speak.
I have been assembling both a set of morgans and a silver US type set; kind of hit the wall with those and now I am assembling a gold type set. Every day I find out something new and fascinating, and lose my focus. Sounds like that is the wonderful world of coin collecting.
Anyway, thanks to all for the great forum to educate and assist each other, and I look forward to participating. FYI; I live in the Pacific Northwest, so if anyone knows of any interesting groups that get together, please let me know....

I am not very far with the gold; namely two with another in mind. The older types will remain a dream for me as well. I have 48 morgans, but i got a little tired of seeing the same profile of Liberty over and over (plus they start getting a little more expensive). Either way, I am really enjoying the assembly of coins.

Welcome, morgan96. I'm with you on the series collection strategy. For me, I just get too fascinated with other coins to focus on one series. If you look at my photo album linked in my sig, you'll see how scatterbrained I am.
Great to have you here and posting! Give us a pic or two of your favorites in your collection!

Welcome to CT.
There's nothing wrong with being a type collector. As you have found, it spices things up a bit.
Have you looked into Early US Commemoratives?

I have looked into the early commemoratives; they certainly are pieces of art. I have attempted to stave off the desire, but both the Texas and California sure look good....
