Is it possible to code a Split Thread feature?

Just reading a reply today that said "Not to hijack..." got me thinking. Is it possible for you to code, implement, or add an existing Split Thread feature for users to split threads when they start to turn to another subject matter that may be of interest, but is off-topic in the current thread?

This would allow us also to utilize the existing comment as the opener for the new thread, maybe even having a link back to the original thread? If there is a way of already doing this without admin/moderator help, I haven't found it yet.

Thanks.

That's already built into the software. If you ask a moderator nicely, they might do that for you. It can be a bit of work though, and while I'm sure that everyone can tolerate the occasional sliding conversation, if it becomes a noticeable habit it might make Coin Talk a less pleasant place for the moderators. I truly appreciate everyone who pitches in and helps with moderating the forum by reporting spam, keeping threads and posts in sections where they belong, not breaking rules, and so on.
