I did see them on HSN at 3 a.m. The spin they gave made them sound like they really did come from the Denver mint. I was screwing around on the computer, so wasn't paying much attention, but I remember thinking, "oh boy, the mint is doing it again." They also said there were only a 1000 in ANACs slabs

Hey, you sound like you know what's up with these. I have got the guy I am dealing with down to 50 bucks a piece for these. The Adams, Jefferson and Madison....he said he has been unable to find a Washington either. So do you think 50 dollars is a fair price?

Terrible deal! The presidential dollars are the coin with the least amount of intrinsic value (compared to face) out there. So not only are they SUPER COMMON, they are nearly worthless except for the fact the goverment says they are worth $1.

Just because they were sold at the mint to tourists doesn't mean they were produced at the mint in their entirety. They are not orginal mint products.

If you are going to spend $150 you would be much better off buying a common date MS65 Morgan, a certified AGE (at least it is worth something), or a MS Indian/ Wheat Cent. Buy something you can sell. No one in their right mind wants a Presidential Oath Dollar.

The fact that most people on this forum didn't even know what it was should be your first clue that it was a gimmic.

Good choice. Put your $150 to work somewhere else. Bofore you do that, make sure you know what you are buying, and what it is worth. Also if you are interested in making money you need to do a lot of research first.

Definitely real dollar made by the US Mint, then taken by a promoter, placed in a metal ring, the ring is then stamped with the oath. They then got ANACS to grade them, something ANACS would not have done before Taylor purchased them, and sold these $2 items + $8 slab on HSN for $80. Final value? I'd pay $2 for one.

(This is not an official item in any way shape or form. Just a private promotional item.)

That is exactly my opinion word for word!!! YES the coin in the little fancy piece of metal came from the denver mint, no one is denying that, the part that is the scam is that they are trying too make it sound like a limited once in a life time deal here, that will be worth a fortune in the comming years, picture it this way, I am very good with metal fab. if i was too make one of those and put some print on the outside of the middle and set the coin in there and only make one of them, then in theory, my piece would be the only one in existance, so I would say the only one ever made, does that make it more valuable? short ans. is no, it is just another HSN marketing gimic, it is just like the whole first strike deal. please stear clear of this coin, it will not be worth anymore than a regular prez dollar, check the mintages, of the dollars man, they will never be valuable, especially in a MS-66 grade maybe 5-6 bucks. this is just like the "lucky penny" holders.

I have 3 of them. Need Washington to complete the set. The way i understand it, these coins were sold as souveniers at the mint. Coins and aluminum rings were made by the mint. Why else would ANACS grade and holder them plus put the mintage of each on the holder. Will call them tommorrow to see if there is any more info they have. edited

Re-read what conder101 wrote. You are about to throw your money away.

coin101,

You and your son might enjoy putting together a collection of uncirculated Silver Eagles. They are beautiful large silver coins that sell close to bullion value, so it's difficult to make a mistake even if you are new. They are also pretty easy to resell if you decide to get rid of them in the future. I think it's one of the best sets to learn on.

Where would you suggest we start looking for the coins...as in the US Mint, any reputable on-line dealers...should we go to our local coin shops??? Just wonder where the best place to start looking for Silver Eagles would be????

FYI...the coin I was going to buy the coins from just called and offered to let me have them for 25 a piece. I told him I would give him 5 bucks each....he didn't seem to like that..lol. Oh well.

Talked to ANACS today. The collars are definately made by third party and will not be in the population report. If anyone buys these it will be a gamble. Oh by the way the best advice i ever had was do not trust Home shopping shows. My $300 mistake.
