My stupid question is, what are the chances I could get a little better deal if I paid with star notes? I have quite a few modern star notes and it looks like they have not been selling well on ebay, so I thought I may get a little bit in trade at a show. Pretty much nails it. I go to a small show on occasion and know a few dealers (brothers) that will give me a break if I pay with better condition star notes because they have a buyer. In general I doubt it though. At currency shows in the past I've brought hundreds in star notes. If that doesn't work I may just have to bite the bullet and spend them. I will gamble on the hope that whatever I buy has a better chance of gaining value than the notes.
