Shipwrecked Coin

Greetings, this is my first post on this forum. I recently found a coin while snorkeling off of the coast of Grand Bahama Island and I am needing some direction in where to begin to identify it. It is badly coroded and is mostly green. It does appear to have a "BH" stamped in the middle of one side of it and the only other distinguishable feature is it has a raised circle with bumps and dashes on the other side in the middle of the coin. I was told that the area that I was in was a hotbed for pirates in years gone by, so I don't know to begin with Spanish, English, or French coins in order to identify it. Also, is there any safe ways to attempt to clean off some of the green so I might be able to see any other details that may be there to aid in identifying it? Thanks for any assistance!

Howdy aggie - Welcome to the Forum !!

First of all, put the coin in saltwater or it will continue to deteriorate at a rapid pace. Next post a pic if you can, if I can see it I might be able to offer some suggestions.
