Euro planchet

I recently purchased y Netherlands two-euro coin planchet (blank) with edge lettering but NO cutout for the brass center. It is a solid nickel planchet.

I know that finished planchets (with edge lettering) are not especially rare judging from eBay, but I am wondering if the planchet I have is less common. I only paid about 7 or 8 euros for it, so I am happy with it either way, but I was curious.

A quick search through the internet shows many of the blank planchets in various stages. With the price paid, I would say that you got a decent deal. Would you post pic for us to see.

While I don't collect such pieces myself, I would also be interested in a picture. May be difficult with the edge lettering being visible, but perhaps you can do it ...?

As for the price, that sounds good indeed. Franquinet sells such a planchet, with a Dutch edge inscription, at €45. Have a look at
http://www.franquinet.de/frameset/ka...p?kategorie=10
and scroll down to the item # ROR489*NL ...
Others are a little less expensive. But the "market" for such pieces is certainly smaller than for the coins. So prices will vary to a greater extent, I suppose.

Sorry for the bad picture, but I could not find a better one.

Thank you for the image! I do not actively collect error coins, but find looking at them very interesting. And I had not seen such an "edge inscription only" piece yet :-)
