2004-2005 Mint Sets Look To Be HOT!!

I was reading in the new January issue of Coinage Magazine. It says the Sacagewea Dollar and the Kennedy half will be made available to collectors only. So am I right to assume that these will only be available in mint sets then?

On another note, according to the Coin Vault lastnight, they said the 2004 mint set has the lowest mintage for a mint set since 1963! And I looked at the mintage numbers for the 1963 mint set and its a low 606,612. The modern mint sets seem to have mintages well over 1 million units.

The Mint has not released any Kennedy Halves or Sac dollars since 2000. You can buy them in rolls or bags from the Mint.

The 2004 mint and proof sets are selling for nice premiums now. With the 11 coin set being the first of its kind, this was a no brainer.
There is an earlier thread in which I told the members here to buy early.

Look in your Red Book - it has the mintage numbers of the Proof & Mint sets.

Well you're not doing so bad then Josh - the Red Book is always about 3 yrs behind in publishing the mintage numbers for the newest Mint & Proof sets. So the '05 edition will only the sets up to 2002 anyway.

Of course if you subscribed to Coin World or Numismatic News - then you'd know the mintages looooooong before they ever came out in the Red Book
