Hello everyone,
Since I decided to start collecting coins, my father-in-law gave me a whole bunch of old US and world coins. I haven't looked through all of them, but I did find one that was very interesting.
The coin is an 1863 Civil War Token. On the reverse it states "If anyone attempts to tear it down, shoot him on the spoot". Now, after doing some research I have found that this coin is an error. The word "spoot" should be "spot". I have looked on Ebay and found a few of the non-error coins selling from $20-50. However, I have only seen one listing for the error coin. Can any of you give me an idea how much this is worth. I will take a scan when I get home, but the following link is similar to the one I have. It's in really good condition with only slight wear on the letters "DIX".
