nice job

I just wanted to say nice job with this place, it really looks nice. I wish someone was on the chat to talk to.

Hello -
I need to join the membership group so that I can post in Auction Forum. I do have more than 10 posts but cannot access the forum.
Thanks

How 'bout scheduling a "test chat" to see how the chat function works? Maybe a guest speaker -

Hedderick, thank you for the kind words.

flacoins, thanks for pointing that out. I have corrected the permissions on that forum now. Everyone should have access to read it, members will have access to post after 10 posts in the discussion forums.

Great idea about doing a test chat and getting guest speakers.

When?

And who?

When? Who? Send an email out to existing members saying something like - "We will be doing a BETA Test of our chat system at ( Figure out an appropriate time by where most members have been signing up from. Early Sunday Evening? ). Please join us. We will have an open topic this time to test the chat system and discuss the possibilities of future "guest chatters" (Feel free to volunteer if you have an area of expertise) and chat topics for this venture.

Thank You

(Or something to that effect!)

Yes, let me know too. I find this place is a little more active in the evenings. Be sure to state a time with time zone. I would surely do the beta test before inviting guest speakers.

Also, you may want to try to start a list someplace for "scheduled chats" - then folks can show up for that. Also, listing subjects to be chatted about - say one week you can schedule a chat on US Coins - another on the Euro - etc. That way folks can chat about what they are interested in --- and if not interested, maybe just lurk around and learn, and then they might become interested.

Are you advertising this website? Listed in search engines, etc.?

I think so too since this forums is not totally off the ground yet. That may be the only way to get a good chat going with more than a handful of folks. Scheduling in advance too, will give them time to advertise the chat sufficiently to gather up some "chatters". Of course, it should increase over time, with proper advertising and word of mouth.

I used to host a scheduled chat and it worked out pretty good like that. We designated say - Tuesday eves around 9 PM or so because that would give folks time to get home from work, get their dinner, kids, dogs, etc. taken care of - or in bed, etc. (and most folks aren't too busy on Tuesday eves). We also tried to come up with different topics each week just to get things started. Of course things would get off topic, but if there aren't a lot of folks, then you can always come back to topic, etc.

Speaking of stickies, a schedule for chats would be a great thing to use a sticky post for....
