Percentage of Star Notes in circulation

I am not a note collector, so I do not know if this is a known or unknown item, but does anybody know the percentage of star notes produced vs. non star? I quite often see posts of people finding them but in my entire life I do not think I have ever come across one. When I am at the bank and need cash I will occasionally ask for packs of singles just to see if I can find one. Any idea? 1 in 1000? 1 in 10,000? 1 in 100,000?

thanks

I don't know for sure, but I have heard that its 0.5%. Also, when at work I go through all my $1s looking for stars before I give those bills out and I seem to find one about every 2 straps..which works out to 0.5% (or 1 per 200).

If you go Here and cick on any year excpet the current series, it will give you (at the bottom of ther page) what the published numbers are for stars. They do average around .5%, but can get close to 1% as well.
