New to forum

Hello everyone. New to forum, been observing for a few days and have learned alot! Started collecting a year ago when my grandmother gave me my late grandfather's collection. Mostly a dollar collection with alot of Susan B's and Ikes but also 35 Morgans!! Including a 1891 CC in UA to BU condition! He was also a collector of Franklin and silver Kennedy halves too. I have since enjoyed putting together a 20th century type set (no gold) and look foward to many years of collecting!

Hello, Hello.

Welcome to the hobby and the forum. Sounds like you have a good start. Remember that education is key to this hobby so . . . Buy the book before the coin.

And DON'T CLEAN YOUR COINS!

I couldn't get a good picture of the 1891 CC, but from what I've read and seen, it has strong details on the hair above the ear and on the feathers on breast and wing tips. A local dealer couldn't tell how much original luster remained because it is heavily toned. Depending on the luster he would have graded it between AU50 and MS60.

Hi, welcome to the forum!!
Its so funny, when I was really young I got this BIG book were you pop coins into the book with your thumb, A cheap thing to get kids into collecting, And it had like a phony Q and A section in it..
one of the questions was:
Q: Should I be embarrassed if bullies call me a Numismatic?
A: NO!! You should be proud, Numismatic means you collect coins, blah blah blah it was funny
