| Numismatic literature: How many coin books and numismatic magazine subscriptions?
Just curious, does everyone here purchase numismatic literature as much as I do (including auction catalogs). How many do you have and what type. Include red books, etc as well. It all counts. My latest count is 34 books and 4 magazine subscriptions.
furthermore, how much emphasis do you place on having these as part of your numismatic experience? Share your experience.
Books.: 34
1. Auction catalogs: 7
2. Red books: 11
3. Specific series /type books: 5
4. General numismatic interest: 3
5. Foreign: 4
6 Token specific: 4
subscriptions: 4
1. Coin World
2. Worldwide Coins
3. World Coin News.
4. Numismatic News.

I'm a bit of a book person, so anytime I find a book on coins or the Mint or gold, I buy it. Have over 60 books, some many years out of print and on the verge of rare. magazines...I like Coins and Coin World. They make for entertaining reading at work.

I have about a dozen coin books.
3 subscriptions
CoinWorld
Numismatic News
Coin Values
I'm going to drop Numismatic News because it largely duplicates the content of CoinWorld. (Please, down't throw any vegetables, if I've dissed someone's favorite publication).

More catalogs than I care to count - I have subscriptions for catalogs. Three subscriptions for periodicals by mail, half a dozen subscriptions for periodicals by email. Hundreds of books, more being purchased all the time. Thousands of computer files and pictures.

I have hundreds of Coin Mag's....old ANA, CoinWorld, NN, etc...
The number of Auction Catalogs is getting bigger and bigger all the time...
And books---that is growing too....I would guess that I have 60+ books....and whenever I can I get the books signed as well.

I have been meaning to organize my numismatic books but I have not quite gotten to that point yet. I have scores of books, probably somewhere between 100 and 200. Most are packed away in boxes. Many of these I bought at ANA book sales and have never gotten around to reading. (I'm a sucker for cheap books, especially a box of books for $5.)
I subscribe to:
Coin World
Numismatist
Coin Dealer Newsletter
The Commemorative Trail (Society for US Commemorative Coins)
Bo Tales (Original Hobo Nickel Society)

You know the old saying--buy the book before you buy the coin.
