61 pr-67 5.5

Hello,

Well am new here but was hoping to maybe get a answer to my ?... I have a 61 PR-67 5.5 steps{ANACS}, I was checking PCGS and it value was placed at 17.00. But when I went to varietys website it was listed only up to ms-65 @ 100.00. Soooooo......which of these do one use to determine value?? If we use Varietys then it would be more then listed.
Have sent along a pic as well hope inserted right.......Any help would be great!

Well I am not familiar with the other website that you mention, but usually the full step designation is reserved for MS coins. So the value must be found for proof issues only. I have not seen any price guide for full step proofs. I can tell you that the current dealer bid for 1961 Proof 67 is $11.00

Hello, Welcome to the forum.

Your Jefferson nickel is a PROOF issue. The price guide you were looking at on my website at www.varietynickels.com is for BUSINESS strikes (or circulation issues), and not proofs. Most proof nickels are struck with Full Steps because of the way they are struck and the dies prepared thus making full step proofs common and not highly valued. Proof issues become more valuable when they have cameo and deep cameo surfaces but for now it appears that your coin is in the $12 range.

Hope that helps.
