My Mood: | Clinker Trivia: Kennedy on World Coins Being a member of Coin Talk you know President Lyndon B. Johnson was responsible for President John F. Kennedy's likeness being put on the Half Dollar minted in 1964. You, further, know this was the first time a President's likeness was put on a coin within a year of his death. Plus you know two other things about the Kennedy Half Dollar of 1964: 1) The 25 year production of the Franklin Half did not happen. 2) The 1964 Kennedy Half Dollar was the last 90% silver business-strike coin minted in the United States of America.
