1971 D Penny

I have a 1971 D penny that is 1/2 or less the thickness of a regular penny and is not as large as a regular penny, all of the stampings are visible except on the very edge of the penny all of the way around and the ridge is not on it. Any info on this and what it might be worth would be appreciated. I am not a collector of coins I just hang onto unusual ones.

Thank you for any info........Terri

Terri:
First, welcome to the forum.
Second, it sounds like an acid job. Just dip the coin in acid and it gets eaten away, and becomes very thin.
However, it is easier to tell if you can post a picture.
