2010 Dinosaur coin came out early this year for some reason. No idea why but here it is lol . It is of a Dromaeosaurus, 99.99% silver same stats and finish like the other three. This is the fourth and final coin of this collection.

My Mood:
I got em all as well.
A dealer/aquantance of mine who is a RCM masters Club memeber is claiming he got a notification that the mint is going to put these coins in a complete collector set. All 4 of them.
If this being the case, then I kick myself for buying them individually over the past 4 years. I would much rather have them all within one clam shell case..thats for sure.
When I think about it, dont you think that if the mint is going to do that, then its unethical?

I would not be surprised if they made a box set of these. Tons of Canada mint sets get put into box sets after their run is done. Things that would bother me are:
1. Making them identical thus screwing with the original mintage numbers.
2. Making the box set cheaper then the set of loose versions
3. If they upgrade the triceratops to be nicer then the original since out of the 4 coins it was the crappiest which was a disappointment to me since was favaourite dino.

Anyways Canada Mint is one of those companies that makes way over spot on silver and pretty much can do what they want.

This dino set is the last Canadian Mint product I am buying since Canada Mint collector items are losing value in my opinion and only very rare canadian coins (older coins) or the harder to collect coins with very very low mintage are worth getting.

I will continue to collect my Jamaican coins since they are usually cheap to get anyways and have moved towards silver bullion to sink my money into along with a few comics. (Is a comic bubble burst coming well this is quite possible)

It is quite possible that there will be an other silver meltdown event and I am a person that has the opinion that silver is undervalued and the gold to silver ratio is off.

A 5th Canadian $4 Dinosaur Coin will be issued!

The Royal Canadian Mint announced last week that the very popular dinosaur coin series will be extended! A 5th coin will be issued in 2010.

Have a link?

On there site they say on Oct 2nd, 2009 that the

"

2009 DINOSAUR COLLECTION - DROMAEOSAURUS

The final instalment of the Dinosaur Collection features a legendary Alberta raptor named Dromaeosaurus, otherwise known as the "running lizard". The image of this fierce predator is preserved on a selectively oxidized surface of 99.99% pure silver emulating the rock from which its bones have emerged after a 75 million year slumber. Only 20,000 coins, with a suggested retail price of $42.95 CDN, are available world-wide.

I have also bought them all individually (3 sets for my kids and myself).
It would be unethical if the mint had planned from the beginning to issue the coins as a set. However, they may have made this decision later (if it actually is going to happen).

Now that there is going to be a 5th coin, the set should include all 5.

The same thing happened with the First Spouse bronze medals. I don't think the mint had originally planned to offer the medals as a set. At the end of 2007, when the 4-medal set went on sale, I bought 3 of them even though I had bought all the medals individually. All 3 sets had the Abigail Adams mule in them!

The information about the 5th dinosaur coin was really just a "oh, by the way" mention at the bottom of an email that was sent to all Master Club members a few weeks ago. So I don't have a link and I don't believe there's anything about it on their website yet.

Oh look at that! I just went to the Mint website, and there it is:

http://www.mint.ca/store/coin/4-silv...010-prod670014

Read the new description for the Dromaeosaurus, it now includes:"NOTE: By popular demand, this 4-coin collection is being expanded to include an exciting fifth coin scheduled to launch in the Fall of 2010."

Lucky I am a completist for them. If they bring out a 6th I am going to convert my set to silver bullion lol.
