For some reason, I like the 2005 Bison nickel and have been pulling any I get from circulation. I probably only have $20-$30 worth but I'm sitting here wondering if keeping them is worth it. Do you think there might be any future value in circulated bison nickels, some in excellent condition and others in not so excellent condition. I know there are errors in the Bison nickels but I'm not very slick and don't have the patience to examine each Bison nickel for errors. If there is a major error and one easy to spot, I could probably go thru these, examine them for an obvious error and take the rest to the bank.

Any ideas on the Bison nickel and if they are worth keeping in circulated condition would be greatly appreciated!

Well, there were over 900 million of the bison nickel made in 05. But, I like them a lot too and keep the nice ones I find. They probably won't ever be worth much, because I think a lot of others kept the new nickels. But, then again, they were only made for one year and maybe in about 75 or 100 years they may be worth a premium of some sort.

i was keeping every one i could find, but after searching rolls i found a bunch, and just rolled them up.

Like coleguy said, in a hundred years they MAY have a small increse in value, so sock them away and wait! This is where patience comes in and now is the time to use it!

Thanks for the replies. Being as I am 52, waiting 50 years might be a bit too long for this gal

I think I will put them in my banks FREE coin change machine and use the money to buy a nice silver piece or a Buffalo nickel (I love the Buffalos) at the next coin show in FT. Lauderdale. The nickels take up space and are heavy and since it appears that they MIGHT increase a wee bit in 50 years, I think it's best to say goodbye to this tub of bisons.

the problem is nowadays everyone saves everything thinking it'll be worth something.

I doubt in 50 years it'll be worth much.

Don't see these going up in price much, I bought 10 roll sets from the mint, rolls from the bank and one $25 mint bag of the P&D. I don't think I'll even recover the mint makup in my life time. Look at the 1950D so many saved rolls that these are basically common and inexpensive in Unc condition and there are millions upon millions more of the bisons!
