nickel forum

Because there are so many new people asking questions about nickels, and Speedy is getting ready to start up his new nickel forum. I think it would be a good idea to look into changing our variety nickel forum to just nickel forum. That way anyone with a question about all kinds of nickels can just go there for reference and discussions. This is only my opinion but because there are so many more nickel collectors here now I find myself spending more time over in that forum. And the title variety nickels sounds like there are only variety and error nickels over there and at times this is not true at least that is the way it seems to me.

Bruce.

Hmmm.... I don't know.... I enjoy the designation of Variety Nickels.... (and it goes along with Speedy's new site! ) Any conversation about nickels is always welcome there obviously...

I don't know....

I just go back to the old addage... If it works, why fix it? And from the increased nickel interest level of lately, maybe what we have is working? Maybe, we just needed a few people around that would kindle the interest and be available to answer the questions folks bring up...

Whatever the name, I am thrilled to see nickels getting the attention they deserve as they have been underappreciated for many years!

Just my nickels worth....

Is Speedy going to have a open forum for the discussion of nickels on his site? I hadn't heard that yet...

I do find it kinda odd... we have a special section for variety nickels, and have had for quite a while... even when interest was low at times... Why arn't there special sections for Variety Cents, Dimes, Quarters, etc...

I think if we were to expand the title to reflect the general discussion of nickels, it would only be fair to give collectors who specialize in Cents, Dimes, Quarters... etc... their special little place too... as it is, everything is just mixed in th US Coin forum and it gets annoying at times to find what I want... But I don't know, I Think this subject is worthy of discussion...

Yea, I've been thinking about that. But then, if we have a nickel forum, shouldn't we have a cent, dime, quarter, half, and dollar forum too?

I think the two most popular are the nickel and wheatie...you could have one forum with stickied sub-threads

perhaps, but then we'd need a half cent, half dime, two, three, and twenty cent forum, and don't get me started on the gold denominations, whew!!!

Haha, well there's my point. Where do we stop?

I setup the VN section waaaay back, because Jason asked me to set it up as a kind of 'club' section for people who visited his site. Of course things have changed a lot since then. It may, or may not be a good idea now to give more separate sections for people with more specific interests. There are points to consider both in favor and against.

Well at this time I'm not going to set up a "forum" on the nickel website. I'm here at CT and this is my forum! Whatever Peter decides to do with the nickel part of this website is up to him! I know that I've been going back and reading old threads and learning alot!
I'm not going to be doing Self Promotion here for my site as this is where I come to learn about COINS---not promote a site. But as you have said...I do hope to make my site about NICKELS...at first I'm going to target the Jefferson set...and then maybe as time allows move on to adding more and more info.
