Dak, this is from your first thread. Now that I can see what you're after, I can see why you disagree with the majority of the votes. Appreciation isn't an intellectual thing. One doesn't appreciate with one's intellect, but one's emotions.

That understood, I'd simply identify the coin, request an essay on why the contestant would like it, and give it out to where you feel it would do the most good. Just a [last minute?] suggestion...

Thank you all for a great contest leading up to this! It was great to hear your ideas and suggestions... While the majority asked for a random drawing for the free gold, I just can't see letting a gold coin go to just anybody who says "pick me" ... Maybe that makes it less of a contest and more of a "placement", but regardless, I think it should be earned or for that matter, be a reward for an action, you should be clever, outsmart the other guy, or maybe, quite simply, you'll end up just getting lucky Whatever the case I want to have some fun with this and I hope you do too! The thing I discovered while putting on the last contest was its hard to be fair. So while it is my goal to be fair, I'm afraid that my contest will be partial to the folks who want to dig in and have some fun with this!

I see a lot of people want to write a story, I am a bit "scared" of this option, Honestly, how do I judge an essay or short story when you can see my posts themselves are "riddled" with bad punctuation and grammer?? No matter what I do I can't please everyone... I can only please one... I only have 1 gold coin. So a contest is in order and may a deserving contestant with the drive and determination to sift through the rigors and frustrations of this contest come out victorious, this is no holds barred, (ok so some holds may be barred, but they will be disclosed in each stage as applicable!) all resources are open book, you may use google to search, you can call your mama, you can even use a calculater if you see the need, May the best contestant win!. As Rotobeast said 2 men go in, only one comes out! (and he'll be holding a gold coin!) LOL

At stake most of you know already is an undisclosed gold coin. It is the only gold coin in my collection, and while it doesn't quite fit my tastes, I'm sure there is someone out here that would enjoy it if nothing else, just the bullion value right??

So the big question how do YOU stake a claim on this piece of gold... Well its gonna be a round robin sort of thing... The poll I posted in the last thread showed there was a lot of interest in a lot of different things, and while there where a few ideas that got a lot of votes, it is noteworthy to mention that every idea had a least 3 votes!!! So this contest is going to incorportate bits and pieces of some of the ideas presented by you all in the last contest I sponsored. There is going to be a lot of variety including coin trivia, some puzzles, some riddles, some coin grading, and I'll try to come up with a reasonable approach to a story, but with some interesting twists along the way including some tasks that will be accomponied by bonus prizes... This gives everyone a chance to join in have some fun, as I expect no-one will be an expert at every task so that kinda levels the playing field a little, HIT YOUR STRONG POINTS HARD. First one to hit 100 points takes the GOLD!!!

At the end of each stage of the contest, the winner will be awarded his points, and additionally will also have his name entered into into a random drawing at the end of the FREE GOLD contest for a 2nd place prize of a American Silver Eagle, additionally, ALL contestants will be placed into a random drawing for an undisclosed "Bronze" 3rd place prize that will be well worth the effort!!!

I will tally points and post them frequently so you all can see the standings...When it is all said and done the person with the most points walks away with the gold!

ABOVE ALL HAVE FUN! PLAY NICE, AND NEVER EVER GIVE UP HOPE OF WINNING!!! Keep your eyes peeled as I'll be hiding a few things in other threads throughout the contest (they should be fairly obvious)... Maybe putting up some riddles (maybe not so obvious) elsewhere around the forum using alias user names that could be found and redeemed for bonus points!

So the contest will be underway with the first task disclosed in less than three hours. I currently have 5 stages set up for this contest, and will randomly draw one to start with tonight!! Even I don't know what it will be yet So... I've said more than enough for now... see ya in a couple hours...
