This was sold as a doubled or slipped die 2004 D Wisconsin Quarter on both the obv. & reverse. These were taken at 60X magnification. Photos included. Are these extreme/minor "errors" real or even significent enough to warrant interest or money? I bought this coin for about $10 w/S&H.

There are many that would say no, these are common & worthless, spend them... BUT... Decide for yourself! Thats the fun of collecting, there are no rules, whatever makes you happy, run with it. I love nickels and variety coins, I'm still learning a lot and my tastes change a bit, but I'm still a sucker for die cracks, especially if they are in interesting places and they still get my attention... I'll drop 3-5 bucks for an interesting die crack on ebay, whereas someone else on this forum will be inclined to just spend that same coin.

So really its a matter of preferance. DO IT, IF YOU ENJOY IT! Don't let someone talk you out of YOUR collection based on their opinions. You are the only one that has to enjoy it!!

As I don't know you I will say, if you are thinking of these coins as "investment opportunity" I don't think they will ever catch on and be "worth" much as they are too common. But purely as a hobby or personal collection to someone who enjoys them they are priceless!

It appears to be an example of minor strike doubling (machine doubling).

Just for your own knowledge, slipped die is the seller's way of saying mechanical doubling without really saying it in the hope that someone would think it meant something else and thus help him sell the coin for 40 times what it is really worth.
