Washington Errors Any other big errors like this?

I'm kind of new to coin collecting and I have bought a few washington no edger errors on ebay and I would like to know has there ever been any other errors like this in the history of the US where something so significant totally missed one of the phases of production? I heard about the 1955 double die penny and to me that doesn't seem like a big deal compared to the mint totally forgetting to put the year and words on a coin. I also read about the 1937 Buffallo nickel that was apparently a die messup, but once again this doesn't seem like that big of a deal compared to these presidential dollars. Is it realistic to expect that these could be selling for thousands within a few years? I see that the 1955 double die and the 1937 Buffalos sell for that much, but i don't know how many are out there compared to these Washington dollars .

There are biger errors from the mint. Like forgetting to put anything on the "coin", or releasing a planchet into circulation. Cent planchets can be found for cheap. I've got a couple. Washington Dollar planchets can be found on eBay for a couple hundred dollars. These smooth edged no lettering coins will more than likely come done in price a little as over 100,000 were released into circulation. I paid $170 for a PCGS MS65 one. I think that I paid a bit much for the coin.

Actually "Golden Dollar" planchets can be found.

A true Washington Dollar planchet, lacking the edge lettering as well as the obverse/reverse designs, cannot be distinguished from a SAC planchet, or the planchet from the Adams and subsequent DeadPrez coins.

My friend's dealer refers to these as kiddie coins.

No, I think they are going to make a nice set when they have issued them all. I just don't want Nixon on them.

There is really no way to know for sure that the mint did totally forget---the machine might have been jammed and the coins really might have gone through and missed the edge lettering.

Coins such as the 55/55 cent and the 3 legged Buff will be worth much more in the long run then these pieces ever will think about being.
