First strikes

In my never ending search of high grades amongst moderns. I strive too get Rolled coins as opposed to bags. I mostly buy from the mint directly. I still seem to get a large volume of bag marked scratched coins, rather than high grades. Does any one know if first strikes are reserved for corporate purchases. Or is it just luck of the draw. I just got 10 rolls and I cant say that there is even one that I would have slabbed. I was not paying attention and just assumed these where unsearched rolls. But they have been picked over and high graded out and I got the culls. I should drill holes in them and make fishing lures out of them. Ok sorry about that I guess I just needed to vent.

Take a deep breath........the mint did not search the coins before they sent them to you. If you have never seen this, take a tour...http://www.usmint.gov/mint_tours/ind...action=vtShell

First strike are just coins that were made early in the run. It's a marketing gimmick, for heaven's sake don't fall for it.

Interesting tour there Becky, I understand that much. And I know they change out the dies from time too time during the run. But do we know any body that has first dibbs on those early releases. Some body must know somebody Some where. Have a cousin that works at the mint. Well I can get some comfort in knowing that it is luck of the draw. That takes the sting out of it a bit. Now I just have too find a witch and get a curse removed
