    unusual or not?

I received 2 $5 bills from an ATM and the serial numbers were JL 75592840 B and JL 75592841 B. Is it unusual to get two or more bills in sequence like this, or not at all?

Not at all. You can buy new stacks at the bank which will contain all consecutive numbers. Sometimes when they fill the ATMs they will load it with a new stack.

I've gotten a stack of $20 all sequential before out of the ATM. What I find unusual is finding an ATM that actually dispenses $5 bills though. In my area, it's hard enough to find one that spits out $10 bills nowadays. Click here to enlarge

I love when I get consecutive serials from the atm. I once got $500 in consecutive, low serial star note 50's.
Spend them unless theyre stars also.

The only thing unsual about it is the fact that it dispensed out $5's instead of $20's... I've never heard of that before. All ATM's I've ever dealt with only dispense out $20's...

Oh haha without even reading your comment I made the same observation. I've never heard of an ATM machine that dispenses $5's either...

Nope not in my area you still have to get $20's then exchange them at the bar for $2's, but they'll never give you singles, that's for sure lol.

There are many machines out there that dispense other denominations. Some dispense 10s, some 5s, and a small number will even dispense 1s. BoA, Chase, M&T, and a bunch of other credit unions have ATMs with these capabilities. They cost more than the standard 20 ATM, so they are not as common.

It sure is fun to get a stack of Unc. consecutive serial numbered notes.

Fifties and tens yes, but I have never seen a ATM dispense fives.

A co-worker of mine worked at a well known bank. The $5 dispensing ATMs in their particular neighborhood were a strong selling point for new clients. It was very appealing to parents who wanted their to learn about money and savings, and have the ability to take out smaller amounts at a time.

Some credit union atms have $10's. Most major casinos only let you take out $50's..and they charge you $5 to do it! When I got the consec, stars I stopped gambling and went home.

Around my area the $5.00 ATM disappeared several years ago but most of them here dispense 10's and 20's.
