    I'm no expert, but I think that's too light to be an IHC or a silver dime. Not sure though...

    An 1878 dime would weigh 2.5 grams, take away a little for wear....

    looks Like it's got signs of being a cast copy some of the lines of the shield have merged. And bumps on the surface make me think that. Has the edge got flat spots?

    This does appear to be a counterfeit strike on a nonstandard, white metal planchet. The bumpy surface details, indistinct LIBERTY, broken D of UNITED, and a right oak leaf of curiously low relief are all indicative of a counterfeit. The coin was also damaged after it was struck.
