Getting back on topic, as others have said, I don't think there will be a huge amount of cancellations, as most collectors will keep their order regardless. The canceled orders will most likely be from those hoping to make a fast buck.

As Saltysam stated, my focal point in the set is the reverse proof, so having more regular proofs is not a big deal to me.

Who would think there could be so much drama in an allegedly relaxing and enjoyable hobby like coin collecting.
A piedfort is a wonderful idea!

I just received an email from Paradise Mint and one of the items was in regards to this set. They claim they are not going to offer pre-sales because of it's asking price and the large quantity produced by the mint. They feel with 2 1/2 x the 25th Silver Eagle Anniversary production, is not a good buy. In fact, they are recommending to cancel your order with anyone, if so, because the price will probably come down in the after market. Here's hoping many do that. That will keep dwindling the supply available to this market, and help keep it's value high.Click here to enlarge

I'm actually thinking about this as well. I may pick a few of the nicest examples, just to show various finishes, and let the rest go for bullion+. Maybe trade for more ATB pucks.

I think the intact set will still do well since the reverse proof is still unique. The only losers will be those breaking the sets up to throw a new coin in a slab to hope for a 70 and a money making opportunity.

I don't care about those people anyway.

Yep, I like those ATB P's and the mint isn't messing with them, like the ASE's - although I think they're do for a price adjustment. When melt was around $175 they sold for $205, they're still $205 and melt is $136.

Wish I could continue, I like the ASE's, but I'm tired of dealing with the mint's tactics, which exploit this popular series. The latest underhanded scheme to reissue the S proof took the cake. Legally, the mint is on solid ground - ethically, they’re no better than the worst of the monopoly like mega corps out there. Hopefully the mint pays for its greed and short sighted decisions.

Mint should them directly to consumers not dealers with strict limitations on quantity per household.

I think I'm gonna be going in a similar direction. I will still buy ASE's for bullion but I won't buy any from the mint anymore. It just won't go with my collection anymore, and I really don't need the gov't packaging. Click here to enlarge Of course I may buy a set if it looks like I'll make a few dollars but other than that I'll stock up on junk silver and regular run of the mill ASE's. Click here to enlarge

Yeah, that government packaging is brutal. I always wondered why all mints believe they are adding so much value with packaging when we are COIN collectors, not mint cardboard collectors. A friend has a ton of later mint products from around the world, and his storage is probably 10 times mine for similar amounts of coins. He has a whole executive safe full, and if they were my coins they would fit in a medium SDB.

Yep, the mint enables the dealers/speculators at the expense of the collector. If they cared about their collector customers, they'd limit the mintage to 100k or less and limit it to 1 per household. It took the atb p hotsprings a week to sell out 27k with that limit, giving all a chance to get one. And most important, not reissue a coin when all believed it to be exclusive to one set.

Yep, and if they wanted to, they could make nice packaging much more storage friendly. Although the 25th ann set packaging was well received, it could have been more “streamlined” – I’d say it’s like a 1950’s computer and it could be like a notebook. Or take the dollar commems, why is that small box in plastic and a sleeve 5 times it’s size?
