yes, it's silver bullion. It's really nice.

I avoid Pandas like the plague, due to the realm of counterfeits out there. I'd only buy them from the most reputable dealer around (someone like Panda America), or as slabbed coins. On resale, they are extremely hard to resell--both Silver and Gold ones.

I agreed with you that there are so many counterfeits in ebay and other channels. I bought them from the reputable dealer, so I strongly believed I got a real one.

Good move. I had gold pandas and sold them mid last year, after having them since the 80s. Had a heck of a time finding a dealer who wanted them, and they were very reluctant to even go melt, as there are so many good counterfeits. In terms of bullion resale, nothing beats good ole American Eagles. Pandas are very pretty coins, though. Glad you got some good ones.

I avoid pandas for the simple reason in that they are just way too pricey for me in terms of bullion. They're a worldwide popular coin.

For Chinese panda, it's one of my collectible coins.

How about the coins from Perth Mint? Do you like it?

I think they're one of the most beautiful coins minted today. I usually buy one 1oz silver panda and one 1/20oz gold panda for my collection. I love the fact that they change the design every year, even though it might just be a marketing ploy to get you to buy the new designs, they seem to get more beautiful each year.

Compared with other worldwide popular coin, panda is quite expensive but I will buy it as a way of investment.

I also love its design actually. I have 2010, how about you?

I really just started collecting heavily last year, so I just have the 2011 and 2012 coins.

I like Chinese pandas a lot also, but as Morgandude said, be careful what you are buying. I purchase them for enjoyment and not so much for future resale, so the premium, although somewhat steep, is easy to justify.

I usually purchase the 1-ounce every year, but did not in 2012 because the design was just the 2011 design flipped over; not very creative at all. I bought the 2012 1-ounce China Panda Singapore Coin Show edition instead. Yes, I know it is ridiculously priced and I am a sucker, but I really like the obverse design, as well as the Greal Wall of China on the reverse.

I also have a couple of the 5-ouncers that have been graded.

For my purposes, I think they are a great coin and rank up there with the Silver Eagle, Libertad and Kookaburra in terms of design quality. As somebody else said, the obverse change every year is a nice bonus.

I'm glad to hear that so many people around the world love chinese panda. I have 2010 panda, 1996 1/2 oz unicorn and other lunar silver coins. I also like the Singapore one, but, it's really expensive to me.

Some factors that make me want to not buy pandas are:

    The counterfits
The sheer volume available on the market
And the premium that it demands, which IMO is not deserved.

It's still a nice design and concept though.

if I wanted to purchase a panda lets say from golden eagle or another site, they wouldn't be counterfits right? only thing is theyre quite expensive ( premium ). I would have to watch out for fakes on ebay and where else?

They are a very nice coins, even the older ones.

Curiously if you buy gold or silver Pandas in China you will find they sell for just a small percentage over spot. I bought some really nice sets of them there and brought them back to my country.

If buying raw ones from a website, make sure the website is legit. A lot of people on here can refer you to a good bullion website, and at that point, it's up to you to pick and choose whom you want to shell out cash to. Apmex, provident metals, gainsville coins, etc. are just a few off the top of my head. All three have raw/certified and are competitive. Teletrade can have some nice pandas from time to time that you can steal for a good price, but you have to pay a buyers premium. Ebay is pretty good if the seller has certified coins. It's really all common judgement, if the deal looks too good to be true, it probably is.
