EBAY purchases

I used to collect coins as a young boy and I stopped for 20 years and just recently started collecting again. I had forgotten how much I truly enjoy this hobby. Of course, Ebay was not in existence back then. I have purchased a few things off Ebay and wanted to know your opinion of the prices I won the bids on. Thank you so much for your input.

1940 S PCGS MS-66 JEFFERSON NICKEL OMAHA BANK MS66 for $28.49 including shipping

1909 VDB PENNY PCGS MS65 RD for $77.15 including shipping

1883-O Morgan Silver Dollar PCGS graded MS 63 for $40.01 including shipping

1881-S MORGAN DOLLAR PCGS MS64 for $49.99 including shipping

1944D MERCURY DIME PCGS MS65FB (Full Bands) for $40.50 including shipping

Welcome to the forum!
I would suggest that you go to Heritage and sign up for free---then you can search their listing of sold coins for values----
On these coins they list them as selling for...:
1940-S Jeff. Nickel---$33-$19
1909-VDB Cent---$92-$51
1883-O Morgan---$60-$31
1881-S Morgan---$54-$39
1944-D Dime---$31-$19

While you might have overpaid a tad on the coins I think you did pretty good---some people over pay alot more than you did and the things you learn while doing it is priceless IMHO---join Heritage and I think you will be ready to hit the trail!

EBAY purchases

I will try that. I went to the PCGS site and their prices were higher than what I bid so I thought I did a good job. I am glad I found this chat forum...priceless.

Pictures of the morgans....okay - as soon as I can figure out how to paste them in my text body....that didn't work the first time and neither did attempting to do an attachment...but stay tuned.

Thank you all for your input.

If you dont have access to Blue and grey sheets, I have alwasy been partial to www.bestcoin.com for price comparison. Still runs a little high, but more accurate than PCGS's.

Ebay

Thank you for your responses. I love this website.

My next questions are about selling on ebay.

What are your thoughts on buying from Heritage and selling on Ebay? I have noticed that the coins on Heritage are much lower than the final bids for the same coins on Ebay.

Welcome aboard!!!

Speedy's advice is pretty good and sound.

If you like what you bought and you can still pay your bills on time, well you did just fine.

Nice buys, I'm sure we'd all like to see some pics if you can do that.

EBAY purchases

I did sign up for Heritage and it seems very realistic in terms of accurate pricing and how much coins have sold for in their auctions. They have an auction tonight which I will participate in. Check it out.
