1904 o Morgan arrived while on vacation, and is even nicer!

My 1904 o toned MS 64 arrived while I was away on vacation. Got back from St.Simon's Island, and found the coin was even prettier in hand than the original photos showed it to be. Here are my pix---lots of rainbow toning on the reverse, and golden/blue on the obverse. Sometimes, a coin looks even better when you get it home after the auction!!!

I like it. Lots of color and character there...it's a great coin. Only downside is the strike is on the weak side...but a great coin nonetheless.

Thanks everybody. This coin was the type that just made me smile looking at it--not an expensive one at all, but loved the tone. Yes, it is not the strongest of strikes for sure--that date just doesn't generally have great strikes from Nawlins mint for sure,, but the colors made up for it in terms of finding its way to my collection. Actually, 1904 is one of those years with a very wide range of strike qualities. While weak strikes are common...full strikes are not especially rare and can be found with a little searching.

That said, the color is what makes this coin and no matter the strike...it wouldn't be a great fit in any collection.

True, Camaro. I had a 1904o previously that was blast white and a great strike. It was a 65 and I sold it as part of the complete Morgan set I sold a number of years ago. Honestly, I like this one better, as a result of the color. Click here to enlarge

I think I would take this coin over a well struck blast white example. I personally like variety in my collection. One of my long term collecting goals is to have a high quality complete Morgan Dollar collection. I don't want every coin blast white. I want each coin to be special. Some toners, some blast white, and so on.
