Thread: Coin Inventory To Go

I recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy Android MP3 player.
In addition to playing music and videos, it is really a tiny computer with the ability to go online and run many different apps.
At any rate, I keep my collections inventoried on various Excel spread sheets.
This device has a built-in app that allows me to process the sheets.
It was a simple matter to copy the files over and now I have my complete inventory with me when ever I hit the coin shows!

Try to find an app on Android Market with the best recommendation from rest of users. I got an iPhone and here we got an app called Numbers, works really fast and nice with Excel spreadsheets. But every app on your mobile phone will do "some corrections" in tables, like changed fonts, split joined cells, etc. Remember about it, I was very surprised with it.

I would consider to search an app dedicated for collectors. I got no idea what apps are in Android Market, but search for "coin collecting" or "coin collection", you should have something for you.

I used to have an app plus program that allowed me to access and control my home computer via my cell phone, which I could have used for the same purpose. I used it for work. But it costs around $48 per year and work stopped reimbursing us the expense so I got rid of it. If I could remember the name I would pass it along.

Uuuuu, it is much too high. I found many apps to run remote PC connection, but believe me - the best of all is for free. I am creating websites for a living, so I need to have the best software possible. All you have to do is download an app on your phone, another one on your Mac or PC and make connection (based on generated password). Piece of cake, and it's for free

I've no doubt there are plenty of good free versions. But the version I needed had to be capable of running a secured intranet applet from work on a phone, which means it had to translate javascript so my phone could use it. I haven't found a free version that can navegate the security perameters yet.

One important thing - remote access applications require two things:
1. internet connection for phone and for computer
2. computer should be on, you cannot shut down your computer, otherwise you will have no access (there are some tricks to do that, but I said in general)

That's why I think apps installed in your phone are much more comfortable for using every day than remote connection with your Mac/PC.

I use an app called "US coins" on my Electrify. The icon is a BU Wheat cent reverse on the homepage.

It's not customizable and won't bring up spreadsheets but it does work pretty decent for keeping track of sets when on the go. When you open it, it has a list of US coins from Cents to Dollars to Bullion and mint sets. Large clickable bars for each one.

You can select nickels, and then the next page brings up large generic photos of US type Nickels that are clickable. Tap Buffalo nickels and it lists all the Buffalo nickels in the set. All you have to do is click the radio button next to the ones you have. Then you can go in and enter more info for each one or add multiples for a year if you need to.

This app will completely meet some people's needs. It may not be enough for others. Just throwing it out there.

Quick Office is great. Company schedule is e-mailed on an Excel spreadsheet, and this app will open it without a problem. I don't keep my inventory on my phone, but do keep a want list so when I'm out I can see what I need (and edit on the go). It also enables me to access sites like coinflation and numismedia to check prices. I have a Razr, and Motorola has provided apps to transfer files between my computer and my phone (Motocast) and to print directly to my printer from my phone (Motoprint). Don't know if Samsung offers similar apps, but if so, they should already be installed on your phone.
