All I can tell you is that those are medals, not coins.

As rick pointed out those are religious medals and not coins.

The round one with the "CRUX S P. BENEDICTI" is a St. Benedict medal. The reverse side with the letters surrounding the cross are Latin initials for Vade Retro, Santana, Nunquam Suade Mihi Vana Sunt Mala Quae Libas Ipse Venena Bibas which means begone satan and suggest not to me your vain things. The cup you offer me is evil; drink your own poison.

The horizontal bar of the cross with the NDSMD represents Non Draco Sit Mihi Dux; Let not the dragon be my guide.

The vertical bar of the cross with CSSML; Crux Sacra Sit Mihi Lux; May the holy cross be my light.

The hear shaped medal is the medal of immaculate conception, bearing the image of the virgin Mary, mother of Christ.

The last medal relates to the 10th crusade of the 15th century I think.

Than you BUncirculated, very kind of you. Great information. i don't suppose you or anyone else has any idea of date? Or if the rosary is of any value? i don't own it but said I'd look into it for a friend. I haven't had any luck finding any other medals like these on the internet. I'm led to believe they are very old, but can't be sure without some help from guys like you on coin talk. Best wishes, and thanks to everyone who took a look. John.

The only advice I could give you is to find a collector of religious articles such as this rosary. They are out there as there is a small market for them.

My guess is these are not that old, look to be 20th century.

Thanks for your insight. The provenance of this rosary that I am privy to is proving doubtful given what I've found out, in no small part from you BUncirculated, thanks again.
